Compress Your PowerPoint Files Before You Send Them Out!
Tuesday, March 11th, 2008Its only courtesy — don’t make your recipient sit there waiting for your PowerPoint file. All you have to do is this simple thing… compress your PowerPoint file for your intended audience, especially if you’re using lots of graphics and artwork. Its very easy… here’s how to do it:
File Menu –> Save As. Click on “Tools” and then click on “Compress Pictures.” Then you most likely want to compress for “Screen” especially if you’re just sending it to people to watch it on a screen or if you’re planning to conduct a web conference using your PowerPoint file.
Then the last step is to give it a file name, and you’re done. Depending on how big your graphics were, this may result in considerable file size savings.
Most web conferencing services will not compress your graphics, so its best to do this step before sending it out or using it for web conferencing, or via email.
